Just a few friendly reminders that 6th, 7th and 8th graders have a practice card due by Monday, 5pm.  Remember to submit them electronically using the links in the drop-down menu at the right.

High School and Middle School orchestra students have a PRACTICE JOURNAL due tomorrow.  Please see my previous post if you lost the hard copy I gave you on Monday.

And now for some fun.  Many of you know my son, David.  While we are an INTENSELY musical family, David has no interest in playing an instrument.  BUT I think I may have found his niche!  INVENTOR of weird musical instruments.  Check this out!  What a fun science experiment this could be!  (My only argument here is that the cello IS cool to play without being magnetic.)  Link to the article here.

I prefer the sound of a real cello compared to this wannabe.

                                About Mrs. Spurbeck

Jenny has been a cellist for 29 years and has actively shared her joy of making music with students since 1993. After earning degrees in cello performance from Vanderbilt University and Michigan State University, she pursued Suzuki Training primarily under the guidance and direction of Marilyn Kesler.  Since then she has taught a wide variety of students, both privately and in ensembles throughout her teaching career, many of whom have pursued music outside their formal education.

Jenny’s greatest musical memories include having a private lesson with Yo-Yo Ma and facilitating an informal opportunity for Mr. Ma to meet her students after he performed at the Wharton Center.  She actively performs in recitals in the community and considers herself to be a life-long learner.

Jenny is an enthusiastic advocate for encouraging young people to grow to their potential in their musical endeavors.  She lives in Lansing with her husband Sam, also a music teacher, and her two children, David (9) and Rebecca (12).
