Welcome to Waverly High School Orchestra!!!
There are changes happening in our orchestra this year! We have the potential to make great things happen as we welcome a big class of freshmen this year. Here are some of the great things we have planned:
Explore the website for class handouts and information! The Spurb Blog is where you'll find my thoughts on music and what we're doing in class, and of course, we are on Facebook as well. I'm looking forward to a great year!
- Once again, we will be working towards more participation in Solo and Ensemble! Each week we will have a chance to work in small groups.
- Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings we will have rehearsals for our select group, Community Strings. This group will perform in the community, play for events such as WEF Gala, and will even prepare for solo and ensemble as well. This group is by audition only, and will represent our core leadership in our orchestra program!
- In April, we will host a String Fling; a clinic and concert with members of two other orchestra programs- St. Johns and Greenville. More info on that later, but it should be a great afternoon of learning and collaboration with excellent clinicians!
- This is the year to begin thinking about our Orchestra Trip 2013! We will be traveling to Washington DC, and will be working with an orchestra program in the DC area! We are working on the details of this trip, but plan on being a part of this meaningful experience!
